Hey all, I know there have been a lot of questions recently about what definitions we should use on this website.  Which meaning should realism have?  Which meaning should culture have?

The most important thing here is that we all understand exactly what somebody means when they use a word.  As such, you have to fight for your right to part…. um…. to use particular definitions.

That is what the dialectics are all about.  Since they are so crucial and can be cited when confusion arises in conversations using technical terms from different fields of study, Capybobby suggested I create a page outlining active dialectics.

I am also going to create a dialectical archive indexed alphabetically by word.  It will be like our own little dictionary.

Two more notes:

First, from now on, when an agreement on definition has been reached, if everyone could please note their agreement on the dialectic thread itself, then I will know when to remove it from the active list.

Second, If further quibble rears its ugly head over the adequacy of the definition arrived at in the dialectic on any given word, please reopen the existing dialectic and make your point on the same thread.

That is all. Without further ado… the active dialectics are as follows:

————————————————————–

On Pacifism

On Impeachment Process

On Relativism
